The Dahlia is native of Mesoamerica, principally in the high plains of Mexico. This popular flower made its way to Europe in the 1700s where, in the Botanical Gardens of Madrid, it received its modern name in honor of Andreas Dahl, a Swedish scientist and environmentalist. Today, you'll find dahlias throughout northwest gardens in nearly every color except the elusive true blue, which still escapes hybridists.

Dahlia Park is a special enclave within Issaquah Highlands. It's a quiet pocket, surrounded by permanent green belt and open spaces and focused on its own amphitheater style park.
